I once wrote up a Java app that processes Maker-generated HTML so that it integrates with DoxyGen -- You prepare your HTML, then run DoxyGen over the source code and that HTML to get a single online doc set. The hand-authored content appears as separate chapters within the final set. It gets you the text editor you want (if you want to call Maker a text editor), yet still keeps the class-based ordering and extracted content for the source code.

Fortunately I don't have any non-source-code API docs I'm
maintaining at the moment, but there is potential with one of my current
clients, so I'll look into it.
