If I'm not mistaken (and it's late, so I could be), the FLV file is not the
flash source file (those I think are FLA files) - it's the "rendered" movie
file. You are going to need a "flash decomplier" (which are available
relatively cheap - under 100 dollars - there may also be free versions)
which will then allow you to edit the flash file in a rather cumbersome and
very crude way. It's not pretty.
If there is any way to get hold of the original source files, your life will
be much easier. Classroom in a Book for Flash is not overkill at all - it
gets you operational with Flash, but only scratches the surface of
ActionScript. I learned enough to be able to make some text corrections in a
decompiled, simple flash animation. The decompiler names all the elements in
a numerical sequence, that bear no relation to what the element refers to or
what layer or part of the timeline it is on. It's difficult figuring out
what is going on from decompiled Flash files, but not impossible.
