As a technical writer and remedial writing tutor it seems clear to me: many people have decided to remove the frustration related to their own skills (i.e., lack thereof) by declaring the situation a non-issue. No need to worry about spelling, punctuation, or grammar if they don't matter.
The pendulum will continue on its (no apostrophe, thank you) path already defined by the laws of physics, which are no so easily denied.
