Sarah, Word 2007 has the ability to save in ".doc" format. Have you tried
working with those files? Sometimes they're a little flaky, but that's Word.
You can also install a version of Word 2003 on a Vista machine, if that
would help. Seems like either of those solutions might be the simplest.
