Debt collection seems to be a booming field as well and a lot of it is
outsourced. I wonder if people with large debts can form a debt collection
corporation, outsource to India, and have the Indian debt collectors call
the original debtor (collection agency owner) to collect the debt.
The credit company will pay the collection agency (debtor) for collecting
the debt but take less on the debt than what is owed, the debt collectors
will be paid an ultra-modest wage, and the debt will be paid. The debt will
be paid as a paid debt, rather than a settled debt, although the amount the
debtor pays will be low, like in a settlement. The "collection agency" will
be an asset for the original debtor that the debtor can use to get more
credit. This could be a win-win for everyone.
I imagine that if the debtor/collection agency owner is a technical writer,
then this multi-tasker can document the collection process for the
"collection agency" and have a good job on the ol' résumé. Hey! Desperate
times call for creative measures.
