I obviously can't speak for every manager who has ever had a posting for a
contractor, but having looked at a few of these online freelance matching sites
during my own past forays into hiring myself out, I long ago concluded that most
of them exist to match low paying, low quality work opportunities to candidates
whose capabilities and value are suited to them. I wouldn't want to associate
myself with most of them as either a client or a contractor.
OTOH, if we don't discuss them here at least once in a while, list members who
are a bit isolated from the tech employment centers may not have any way of
knowing about them except for unpleasant experiences.
