Though a lot of us live and breathe by the *Chicago Manual of Style*, I also
use *The Gregg Reference Manual. *If I can't find the answer to my grammar,
style, or usage questions in my bound copy (I always check there first!), I
can simply click the Ask the Publisher link at www.gregg.com.
At that point I fill out their questionnaire and can expect my answer in a
few days. Obviously this isn't something to use when you're backed up
against an impending deadline, but I think it's an invaluable and
authoritative service—especially when I'm in another spitting contest with
someone else in my group.
