As of five minutes ago, about half of the technical writing jobs posted
on Craigslist in my geographic area appear to be salaried.

Of the contract positions, half are clearly posted as having a finite
term, and the other half require a close inspection of the description.

Of the positions that appear to be salaried, a few are questionable, but
I'm relatively certain about others, given the figures being posted.

Speaking of salary ranges, if I go by what I just saw on Craigslist,
let's just say that contract work might just be the way to go around
here...

...but I digress, as the conversation is about hourly vs. salaried, not
contract vs. salaried.

Okay, what's a "salary?" I haven't seen a job as an employee since the
Burst
Bubble. Since, it's been strictly contract work for me.

Maybe I'm not (sniff!-sniff!-moan!-sigh!!!) any good at what I aspire to
do.

Cheers,

|I am accustomed to getting an hourly wage only as a
|contractor, and those are typically short-term positions. As
|an employee, I expect to be salaried, and would not want to be
|hourly, because I want the flexibility that being salaried provides. PT
