Most of my work environments in the past have
required a fairly high level of interpersonal one-
on-one with engineers and reviewers, at times
to the point of laying in wait in cafeterias (hence
my now-semi-famous quote about engineers
and reviewers diving under desks in terror when
the technical writer approaches). The few cases
where a remote writer was able to work
successfully all involved me doing the on-site
terrifying.
