TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I can't program beyond simple scripts either, which puts me
at a great disadvantage in doing hands-on documenting of
SW compared to another writer who can. It's why my resume
has virtually no SW documenting on it, except for cases where
the SW was incidental to a larger HW-SW system and I did
the writing because there was no budget to bring in someone
who could do it without having to constantly pester the SW
developers with trivial questions that an entry-level programmer
wouldn't have had to ask.
WRT XSL and "design created in code," all electronically-
produced documents are "created in code," but the
"traditional" design tools hide their code under more
user-friendly UIs. This will come eventually.
