I can guess. Answering the question: "Have you ever tried to, or
advocated,
overthrowing the government by violent means?" with a "Yes."
They do ask that one, and if there was anything in a person's background
(convicted of conspiracy maybe) or a felony charge involving bombs, that
would probably do it.

It seems like it would be futile to ask that question, because who's
going to say "Yes" even if they have?

And could you be disqualified if you know or have known someone who had
an FBI file on them?
