FWIW, here's the Adobe page that compares the Standard, Pro, Extended, and
Reader versions: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/matrix.html.

Unfortunately, neither catalog nor indexing seems to be included in the
matrix, unless that's what they mean by "Convert documents to PDF/A for
archiving with easy search and retrieval"...

Perhaps the Adobe Forums would help? When I searched the Acrobat Family
for "pdx", I found lots of things. Here's the results page URL:
