If you're going to freecycle an old computer you don't
even need to put in that much effort. Just list the system
with no HD or OS. The average high school student can
get a used drive from a school friend who's upgraded,
plug it in and load an OS in less time than it will take
most adults to figure out how to remove the old drive.
