As others have mentioned, business analysis (BA) and quality assurance
are roles that tech writers often fill informally. Your best chance is
getting a current employer to let you try out one of them.

As one who moved from BA to tech writing, I would remind you that as a
BA you have to spend far more time in meetings with other people than
you do as a tech writer. Depending on your temperament and wishes, this
may be an advantage or a disadvantage.

There are also more different people to satisfy with any given piece of
BA work, and every single one considers himself or herself a subject
matter expert.
