Indigo Byte Systems announces that the new version of its
software help-authoring tool, Dr.Explain 3.1 is available.
Product page: http://www.drexplain.com

The Dr.Explain is the only software documentation tool that
captures snapshots of live application screens and automatically
recognizes and annotates all significant controls: buttons,
text fields, menus, options, and other ones. Until the version
3.1, many software developers and vendors have been using the
Dr.Explain to document their Windows software, HTML pages,
or Flash (SWF) applications. Now, the Dr.Explain 3.1 enters
the Java world. Java developers can benefit from the same
technology, and automatically generate professional
documentation for their Java applications made with Swing
components.

With old common approach, software developers spent hours
editing screenshots and formatting text for their documentation
files. Dr.Explain trims the help file writing time by automating
those boring and time-consuming operations. It captures screens
from a live application, analyzes them, and creates stunning
screenshots that make it easy for users to understand how the
application works. Each screenshot contains numbered references
to all buttons, edit fields, options, menus, radio buttons,
dropdown lists, toolbars, trees, and other controls. Dr.Explain
also creates a numbered paragraph for each of these numbered
controls. Simply tweak the automatically generated text of
descriptions and the program produces everything needed for
professional help files in CHM or HTML format, as well as RTF
documentation files that can be printed or loaded online.

ANNOUNCE: Release of Doc-To-Help 2009 from ComponentOne

ComponentOne Doc-To-Help, a renewing Gold-level TECHWR-L
Sponsor, is the premier authoring and publishing tool in the
market and sets the standard as the industry leader. For the
past seventeen years, Doc-To-Help has been built upon solid
code, innovation, and rigid quality assurance testing making
it what it is today.

With the release of ComponentOne Doc-To-Help 2009 on
September 19, 2008, they introduced a built-in XML-based
editor, a tool for embedding dynamic Help in applications,
and many new authoring features. Authors today recognize the
benefits of XML-based authoring when creating re-usable,
portable, and formatted content. XML-based authoring has
traditionally come with its setbacks since it requires
specialized knowledge. Doc-To-Help 2009 lifts this
constraint by providing a built-in editor for XML-based
authoring. With this new editor, you can work in an
easy-to-use authoring interface while enjoying Microsoft
Word-like style formatting. Doc-To-Help automatically
creates standards compliant XML and CSS files as you write.

ComponentOne Doc-To-Helps advanced technology is apparent
in its XHTML functionality, Word support, and DynamicHelp
tool. You can convert existing Word documents to XHTML in
just one click. You can map Word styles to CSS styles
associated with the new XML file. Doc-To-Help is flexible in
the fact that it still allows Word users to work in Word if
they wish rather than converting to XML. Authors and
developers can now work seamlessly together with the new
ComponentOne DynamicHelp tool included with Doc-To-Help
2009. This tool provides an easy way to embed dynamically
updating Help into your applications

ComponentOne is the only vendor that gives you everything
you need to create your documentation deliverables in one
application. We appreciate their commitment to the TECHWR-L
community and the entire industry.
