That's your problem right there. One of the big issues during the rollout
of Vista was that hardware manufacturers insisted that Microsoft had
to agreeing that systems with only 1GB of RAM could be labeled as
"Vista ready" even though Microsoft knew that this was not a configuration
that any user would be happy with. 1GB is simply inadequate for Vista
itself, never mind any memory-hungry apps. If you're going to stick with
Vista, upgrading to at least 2GB should be considered mandatory. It will
yield a night-and-day difference.
