Deborah,

Your original post was relevant to tech writing because of the law's
implications to internet media, but posting a message with the hint of
politics to this group is like tossing raw meat into a shark tank. It is
not your fault that people lack the discipline required to keep the thread
on-topic or move the thread to the chat list. So you really do not need to
apologize.

The politicos who ran with the thread without moving it to chat [TECHWR-L
Community Chat (Off-topic) <techwr-l-chat -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com>] should really
apologize, but that would waste bandwidth. I think the polite thing to do
for everyone interested in a political debate would be carry this discussion
on techwr-l-chat.
