Since a lot of what I do is information design as much as writing, and I
often have more than one memory hog program up at a time - I'm building
a new system this fall. My current 17 inch LCD - which does not render
color as well as I'd like - will become the "side" monitor for my
program & tool icons - and I will add a medium-sized (20-22 inch or so)
wide screen LCD monitor with good color resolution that can be
calibrated to actually design on. My current system will become back-up
storage (It has a reliable 180 gig hard drive, and is certainly fast
enough to be a good ghost server). My son (yes, we are a family of
geeks - sometimes it's a bit scary) recommends a very fast external hard
drive for work related storage only. It's a good idea, we'll see what
the budget will allow. The thing is, I'm also gong to need more desk
surface realestate!
