Not sure if there are any marketing minds out there who can answer to this... When I was in college, I knew a guy who was majoring in Marketing and he told me that "Repeat" was added to the Lather. Rinse. instructions simply as a marketing ploy to sell more shampoo. I'm not sure about the validity of this claim, but I find it easy to believe.

My current shampoo (Melaleuca Original) says, "Repeat if desired" -- a refreshing acknowledgement that this step is entirely optional. Plus, it addresses the "endless loop" issue that someone was concerned about. :-)
