RE: Word not behaving

Hi Holly,

Before you do anything else - BACKUP ALL OF YOUR SUBDOCUMENTS to a
completely different location.

The Master document feature is notorious for gobbling up documents and
there is no recovery when they are corrupted.

Step 1: Restart Word and see if you can now work. If yes, great! If
not...
Step 2: Close Word again and delete Normal.dot - In general, deleting
Normal.dot will solve most problems (however, if you have macros in
Normal.dot, be sure to back those up as well!) Now see if the problem is
solved. - It should be.

Finally a note of extreme caution: There are ways to work without the
Master Document feature. It is not lightly that you will hear people say
NEVER USE that feature. I know - I lost a manual using it in my early
days of tech writing, and a friend lost his entire Master's thesis. I
had a backup - he did not.... 
I have had rumors that Word 2003 is more stable for this feature - but
having been so burned, I have chosen to find other solutions for large
manuals.

Hi

Have any of you ever had this problem?

In my Word document, I used to be able to use it normally. Now, for some
reason it won't let me cut text or select a chunk of text and delete en
mass. It is driving me CRAZY!!

This is a subdocument BUT the master document is not open so Word
shouldn't
be thinking that the document is locked or something.

Any suggestions would be welcome on how to overcome this particular
problem.
