Some other thoughts:

Adobe's *Classroom In a Book* series, coupled with free, 30-day trial
versions of Adobe apps, is a good way to get some new skills.

If you can prove student status (educators, too), you can get excellent
discounts on these books and a lot of software at AcademicSoftware.com.
