So far, I've had no errors with SVN except those which I made when I was first figuring out how to use it. Dunno about the documentation, as I've never looked at it. Of course, I'm using a caveman approach. Since I'm doing documents and not doing software, I don't bother with any branching or merging or any of the other slightly more advanced functions. I stick strictly to the archiving functions - that's all I need. Any edition-customizing builds that branching and merging may be used for, I handle with different approaches outside SVN.

And as for backups and such, that's true of anything. I always save everything in at least 3 locations. Now that flash drives have reached such huge storage capacities, I don't bother with a backup drive anymore.
