I'm called a "Solution Developer," though my title is more accurately
stated as "Proposal Manager," which includes research, compiling,
managing, and writing proposals. The manager isn't so much "managing"
staff as overseeing the work process for a project. Do we need to
inject the term "manager" into "Technical Communicator'?

I'd sooner dumb my title down so people understand it rather than make
it a secret key to an elaborate description of my profession.
"Technical Communicator" is likely to be one of those misunderstood
titles to lay people.
