That's a great exposition on editing.

Might be helpful? It must have taken hours. (This is a paraphrase from a
Monty Python skit. Michelangelo, answering a pope's question about his
work on "The Last Supper" tosses out "Oh..yeah...it took me hours.") ;-]

It seems possible that one could learn the editing profession using only
this as a guide for study and practice.

A nagging question: Why "The Levels of Edit," not "...Editing?" It sounds
odd, although there must be a fine point of usage I'm missing here, given
the obvious experience and knowledge of the authors and the meticulous
nature of the piece. Would you title a book on running "The Levels of
Run"?

BTW, even though the authors were meticulous, some typos escaped their
view--on page 33, Slides and Viewgraphs, #2. I didn't look for others.
Even the best aren't perfect. :-)
