TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Taking this another step forward: I live and work in northern New England
- Vermont/New Hampshire area - and there are a lot of people with very
good technical skills, a nearby Ivy League educational institution ... and
darned few high tech jobs. I know you could put together a team of
outstanding programmers, designers, writers, managers, etc. and they would
not have to charge the same amount as our big city brethren (or sistren).
That's called "onshoring" where you move jobs to another location within
the same country.
> "Offshoring" isn't even accurate these days when you consider global
> companies. What's another buzzword for "seeking cheaper labor
> elsewhere"?
