I discovered that copious amounts of mind altering drugs combined with loud
rock and roll music....wait...that was the 60s....

The best solution is to ask if you can move to a healthier location. If that
is not possible, then go the noise-cancelling headphone route. I applied for
one job several years ago where I was interviewed in the server room (which
was also the company owner's office). I feel blessed that they never called
me back. I make far more now and I rotate between my home office and a
semi-quiet cubicle at the corporate offices.

Or is this still 1969 and I'm dreaming.....
