TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Absolutely. By the time you hit a senior/principal level you should
have some fairly strong writing and technology skills/knowledge behind
you. What distinguishes a top level employee from a mid level is not
so much the work they perform but how they perform it. At the upper
levels you should be thinking more about efficiency and progress and
less about developing more writing skills. Don't get me wrong, writing
skills are important, but they're secondary to boosting your and, more
important, your team's efficiency and impact.
