Reservations are not that strong. As Bill Lawrence suggested, Scribus is
more of a desktop-publishing/page-layout tool. Although I've heard that
books have been published with Scribus, I haven't personally tried it on a
long document.

If Scribus had a book-file equivalent and some indexing tools, I'd recommend
it as a FrameMaker replacement without hesitation. It just doesn't do that
yet. This is not to say that KOffice is any better in that realm.
