1. More cold than hot
2. Hot

And a phrase that fits the bill:
"You'll be lucky if you can get him to work for you."

But other than a thesaurus, I can't think of any specific sources. You
might want to look at other style guides for lists of words and phrases to
avoid for this and other reasons.
