Position Summary
Citrix Online is looking for a detail-oriented Technical Writer
to join our User Experience Group. This person will be
responsible for documenting the user experience of award-winning
Citrix Online Web sites and application suites including
GoToMyPC®, GoToAssist and GoToMeeting.
Responsibilities
Creates and maintains user experience documentation and
internal Release Notes for an application suite.
Works with user experience designers, software engineers,
trainers and other stakeholders to understand the user
experience and then documents the interaction and visual
design of the user experience for both web and
software-based interfaces.
Conducts interviews with subject matter experts to
understand the software application.
Participates as an observer in user experience research
activities such as usability testing, site visits, focus
groups, interviews or other research activities, taking
notes and/or contributing to user experience research
findings.
Participates in integration, pre-alpha, alpha and beta
testing of the assigned application.
Ensures that work is consistent with documented writing
standards. Uses style guides and document templates to
maintain consistency in documentation across applications.
Works with more experienced technical writers to get
approval to move projects forward and drive them to
completion. Holds internal document reviews.
Serves as a user experience resource for others on the
application team. Responds to inquiries and provides
information regarding product functionality.
Works with other groups such as Quality Assurance,
Engineering and Training and Development to ensure
comprehensive documentation.
Qualifications and Requirements
BA degree in English, Writing or a related field.
Equivalent experience may be substituted for formal education.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word. Knowledge and experience
with wikis and document formatting.
Familiar with Macintosh and PC platforms.
Aptitude for quickly learning new software applications.
Ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical
audience in a coherent manner.
Command of English grammar and punctuation.
Strong communication and interview skills.
Exceptional analytical mind.
Basic grasp of HTML is strongly desired.
Knowledge of and experience with configuration management
tools is a plus.
Basic knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style, the
Microsoft Manual of Style for Technical Publications and
the Apple Publications Style Guide is a plus.
