If you think you will need to make use of the MS Office suite of
programs, then I would recommend that if you get a Mac, get Parallels
and Windows so you can run the Windows version of Office. The new
version of MacOffice due out in a few weeks doesn't have VBA.
Therefore, no macros will run (it has Applescript support instead, but
that of course isn't portable across platforms or between versions)
and any add-ins that rely on macros (such as EndNote) won't work.

I used to provide support for cross-platform Windows/Mac solutions for
custom templates, but that is ending with MacOffice 2008.
Cross-platform support would consist of creating two entirely separate
templates with two entirely different lots of code (VBA for PC,
Applescript for Mac) and it would be too expensive in time and effort.
Instead, my standard recommendation will be for the customer to buy
Parallels and use whatever version of Office for Windows is in use on
a the customer's PCs.
