The gift for musical talent runs strong on my father's side of the family. Unfortunately,
it saw me coming and ran away ;) My brother and I both took piano when we were in
grade school. At one point, the teacher told my mom that she had essentially taught
my brother all she was capable, and that she would never be able to teach me
anything. My brother has made his living from music all his life.
However, I think I'm still "creative", just in a much more structured, anal sort of way ;)
I have the ability to sew, work with stained glass, do beaded jewelry, crochet, cross-
stitch, etc. and I think I'm an excellent chef (doesn't everyone? ;) . I say I "have the
ability" because I stay so engrossed in work, reading a good book, or
hiking/biking/skiing that I don't make time for the other things. Hmm... guess I need
to put "do more creative stuff" on my list of Things to Do for 2008.
So if you can't carry the proverbial tune in a bucket or play a mean banjo, do you
have creative talent elsewhere? And, how does that help you in your technical
writing? ;)
