Honestly, that's one of the many reasons why I'm so active on
listservs and other communities. That way if my resume ever lands on
someone's desk, there's a chance it might have some name recognition,
even if it's "oh man, not this guy". ;-)
I also tailor the resume and cover letter to every job I apply for,
and never use a service to look for me (because they don't do this). I
may not be 100% qualified, but compared to someone who does not do
this and is more qualified than me, I appear to be speaking to their
needs.
