I recently stumbled across a forum message thread where somebody wanted
to exclude (i.e., not import) the formatting of the referred paragraph
or text when the referring cross-ref is displayed. In other words, the
person wanted the cross-ref to keep the formatting of the paragraph in
which it is embeded, rather than importing the formatting of the heading
or other text to which it pointed.
Hm.
Well this is silly.... I find myself wanting just the opposite. I
created some cross-refs to table captions, and they look too much like
the surrounding paragraph text. I'd like them to bring in the formatting
of the captions that they point to, so they'll stand out a bit. Or
failing that, I'd like to at least be able to select the field and apply
"Italic" or something to the displayed text. Can't seem to do it. I
right-click the field, click "Font", and select "Italic", OK out... and
it just sits there looking at me, with the same formatting as the rest
of the paragraph. If I use "Edit Field", the only "Format" option
appears to be capitalization, which is not what I was looking for.
I'm overlooking something obvious, but what?
