Yeah. I've done similar dynamic drill-down diagrams for really complex
software architectures. The first one was in 2002 and implemented with
clickable GIF images on web pages on an intranet; the second was in
2005 and was done in visio.

As John says the biggest problem was with maintenance as the system was
dynamic and constantly changing. The web-based diagram was a particular
PITA to keep updated and once I left the company I'm told it rapidly
went out of date.
