Historical names are also useful, especially if you play
with them a bit:

Alexander T. Great
Innocent T. Third
Anthony A. Cleopatra
Julius C. Salad

Borrowing from Groucho might also be acceptable:

Capt. Jeffrey T. Spaulding (the "T." stands for Edgar)
Hugo Z. Hackenbush
Grant S. Tomb

Sometimes the best way to generate fanciful names is to
ask anyone under the age of ten, because the imagination
at that age is without bounds.
