Effective design, yes, but a poorly-designed interface can overlie a
competent application, and that's why programmers are detached from
this cause. In the theory of usefulness, we agree entirely. My point
was a technical clarification.

Example of a great application with a terrible interface (according to
some): Lotus Notes.
