I like the latter suggestion. We're techcomms (tekoms?) who have such
an integral role we are awarded a short, simple name.

I'm thinking more of other forms of communication, like explaining what
we do to employers.

Like everything else, there's grades of ability. I think mostly it has
to deal with how much of any project they can plan and execute without
intervention.
