Hey list!

This has come up before, but technology moves quickly, so...

Enough people have recommended to me that I install a desktop search engine,
that I'm finally considering it.

So, which one?

Has anyone done a good comparative review that's also fairly up-to-date?

Desktop Google?

Copernic?

maMMa?

What else?

Which do you use, and which are you happy with? Why? Why not?

On Linux I use Kerry Beagle, which came with my distro.

However my employer-provided computers at the office are Windows boxes. An
important attribute would be the ability to index/search inside MS Outlook
inbox and folders.

I can accommodate a lengthy initial indexing, by simply starting it before a
weekend, but I'd want to know if I should expect periodic massive
re-indexings that would slow my computer when I really need to work.

When using the free ones, are the ads obtrusive? Any other grief to look
for?

Thanks,

Kevin
