I am grateful to everyone for their responses, on- and offlist. While I
was waiting I tried out "disable user access" and "disable user account"
as appropriate, and your input confirming that decision was reassuring.

More than that, it was nice to hear I wasn't going off the PC deep-end.
I will be summarizing the group's comments in the UI bug so the devs
know it's not just me. Can't wait to see what response THAT gets! :-)
