Shelly et al,

I too felt that it would be nice to have a more formal paper
qualification for what I do, but I have always been a learning
addict and, through I avidly devour any and all information
I can get my sticky fingers on, I thought it would be nice after
having been out of college for so long (more than 20 years) I
would benefit from a little more structure, direction, and
discipline.

I took the online Masters in Technical Authorship at Sheffield-Mallam
University in the UK. The qualification you obtain is identical to any

other degree so, unless you want to explicitly state as much, it isn't

immediately obvious that you took the course online. The qualification

certainly isn't worth any the less.

I would, however, like to think that an employer would value the
willingness to learn, the commitment to studying and the simple
preparedness to do the extra work on top of the normal pressures
of work, life and everything.

It hasn't actually made any real difference to me, but it does give me

the personal satisfaction of knowing that I achieved something
worthwhile.

my ten eurocents

Simon.
