What a great discussion. Thanks, everyone. I've got to look carefully at the doc and see how often the word appears, and if a more literate rephrasing will work.

There clearly is a legitimate technical concept behind the term, but that doesn't mean that it has to be used in every instance where it appears in my doc. In some places, other terms may work.
