Certification hasn't hurt the Quality profession, and it doesn't scare me. It looks like ASQ offers dozens of different certifications, and STC certainly has the brain power available to design something similar. There are many jobs that require certification, and many that don't. It's an easy, well, um, qualifier for selecting candidates and establishing pay rates.
