Hi Joel, you don't need to wait until 2010. The complete single source publishing and collaboration solution is already out there. The solution is called DITA Exchange and is build on SharePoint 2007 Server.

It chunks you content in nice reusable topics according to the DITA standard, composes the DITA maps in an easy-to-use browser interface and publish to most known formats; PDF, HTML Help, Java Help, Word.doc, Word.docx, HTML, DITA.xml etc. It even collaborates with all known XML-editors.

Please contact me if you need further information. I've attached a link to the DITA Exchange Product Fact Sheet for your convenience (http://194.192.14.222/dx/DxFactSheet-2007-04.pdf) .

Thanks, Ole

Looking at the array of authoring tools that are out there for re-using
content, I wondered if Microsoft won't get in on the action at some
point. Has anyone thought about or heard about if M-soft will someday
build single-sourcing into Word? Content chunks, DITA capability, etc?
I'm wondering if it makes sense for smaller companies to wait a few
years and just see if M-soft will build a tool rather than shelling out
tons now for some small vendor tool.
