TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
<<For the record, I made a deliberate decision to become a TW and I've
worked hard EVERY DAY at building my technical creds on the job and
through classes and reading on my own. Partly to stay in the game,
partly because I find the most interesting work is also often the most
technical.>>
Same here. I'm busily and happily building credentials. Having a masters
degree in English gets you an interview, maybe. Having worked in
real-life newsrooms gets you farther. I find breaking down technical
information into chewable bite-sized bits an intellectual challenge, and
quite creative in its own way.
