Neither have I Stuart but I'd take a guess that Brian is trying to suggest
that the bulk of our role is to provide information and education. I think
we all know by now that 'know your audience' is part of being a technical
... communicator? And that for a lot of us we start with a basic level of
presumed (researched!) knowledge on the part of our readers.

This discussion has been great, and backs up a lot of the 'gut feel' stuff
I've had for the past few years... Although that mighta been too much
curry..

Gordon

There may be such jobs, but I've never (in 15 years as a TW) had to write
for users who know nothing.
