This came up today when we were discussing what
technical writers need to do to "keep their game,"
which includes copious goofing off, reading science
fiction, and downloading Linux distros.
I remembered the "boss key" from old video games.
These used to be hardcoded into most games at a time
when the operating system had only one window. When
the boss came into the room, you hit the boss key and
it poppped up something innocuous, usually a fake
spreadsheet, and kept it there until the key was
pressed again.
I was curious to see if something like this existed
for Windows, and it does...
