This sounds so familiar -- I'll tell you this, Mike: If it's this hard, you
are going to be only wasting your time. If management doesn't have this task
on its plate and doesn't now *want* it, nothing you do can change that. And
you may end up annoying a lot of people, some of whom you hve been led to
believe are with you.

It is from my own experience that I say this; and perhaps I'm wrong about
your particular situation, but I'd recommend doing your job superbly, and if
your employer's eyes don't light up at the prospect of something you
suggest, drop it -- just drop it.
