True. In so far as defining the acronym.
But SGML and XML are Metalanguages. Their specifications give you the
framework to define languages.
HTML, DITA, DocBook, ATA, CALS, etc.
Granted, an XML document can be well formed and not conform to an existing
DTD/schema. But then it's tags really form a unique language on their own.
Something like a unique dialect of Pidgin English.
