The only way to have a universal _whatever_ is to _force_ people to
agree on it. Put a gun to their heads. Threaten fines and imprisonment.
Make the dissenters disappear.

And even that never -really- works.

In ethical terms, I think that sucks. In practical terms, is your
standard really so perfect that no one should be free to explore
alternatives or deviations?
